What are your fees?
My fee is $200 per 50 minute for individual sessions for residents of Colorado and Alaska. I am not seeing families or couples/relationships at this time.
Extended session rates range between $375 - $800 for 90 minute to three hour sessions.
Do you take insurance?
Yes! I’m currently credentialed with UnitedHealthcare and Aetna in Colorado. If you’re a Colorado resident and want to use your insurance benefits, click here to go to the Alma portal to schedule a consultation with me.
If you’re a Colorado resident that does not have Aetna or United, please consider looking into your Out-of-Network mental health benefits detailed below.
Check your insurance plan’s Out of Network (OON) mental health benefits. Some plans, if approved, will offer reimbursement for sessions you pay out of pocket for.
If requested, I provide a superbill (like an invoice) via encrypted email at the end of every month that you will turn in manually or online to your insurance plan.
Can I use my out-of-network benefits?
I’ve determined my current fee very intentionally in order to: sustain a smaller caseload to increase the quality of one-on-one care I’m able to provide, receive regularly scheduled consultation and supervision, purchase and take top-quality continuing education to enhance my therapeutic skills, and be able to cover my business and personal expenses. Because of this, I’m unable to subsidize my rate at this time for new clients.
I’m listed as a Lotus Therapy Fund provider, a grant program run by the Asian Mental Health Collective. If you’re selected to receive eight free sessions through the Fund, please schedule a consultation call with me so we can get started!
Please check out this list I’ve put together for other low- to no-cost mental health resources here.
What if I can't afford therapy with you?
Where are you located?
All sessions are conducted virtually at this time.
What are the benefits of virutal sessions?
Comfort Be settled in your own space with the things around you that offer comfort (blanket, hot tea, photograph, or even your supportive animal).
Flexible Meet me from your vehicle, a family member’s house during breaks and holidays, or when you’re not able to leave your place due to illness or pain. No need to battle the traffic to get to an office or look for a parking spot.
Time to Prepare With time saved, take a few moments before our session to notice how you’re feeling, jot down topics you don’t want to forget, or eat something!
Your Setup Sessions go well when you set aside time and space where you’ll be undisturbed, is private, and you have solid internet connection.
What's your scheduling availability?
My current availability is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 10am - 5pm MST and Tuesdays between 12pm - 7pm MST.
What's your reschedule policy?
I require that you notify me at least 24 hours before our appointment time to reschedule. If I receive the request within 24 hours, you will be charged a cancelation fee, which is the cost of one full-fee session.
I have a No-Cancelation policy. For example, if we have an appointment next Wednesday and you can’t make it, you have a window of three weeks to reschedule it (the week before, the week of, and the week after the appointment). That means, sometimes you may have two appointments in one week.
If we’re unable to find a time to reschedule, you will be charged my full fee for the missed session. You have one “freebie” per calendar year to use for a cancelation of any reason. You don’t need to provide 24 hour notice if you want to use your freebie.
This policy helps to establish session consistency which research shows benefits your treatment outcomes. In addition, if my income oscillates unpredictably from week to week due to unexpected cancelations, it impacts my ability to show up as a well-resourced clinician for you.
For some, this policy may feel too restrictive and for others they may find it stabilizing to know their “spot" remains reserved no matter what. Some others appreciate the accountability to be consistent with their treatment.
It’s important that this policy works for you and your schedule. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about it!
What about your cancelation policy?
I’ll call you on the phone number you provided when you booked our meeting or we’ll meet via video chat.
During our free no-pressure 20 minute call, I’ll first go over the logistics: fees, if our availability aligns, and policies. Next, I like to hear what’s bringing you to therapy now. What made you decide to reach out today?
This is also a chance for you to decide if I’m a good fit for what you’re looking for.
What can I expect during the 20 minute consultation call?
What happens after the consultation call?
You’ll receive a link via email to set up your online portal. Several documents will need to be completed before we can confirm our first appointment. All you have to do next is show up for our initial session!
Good Faith Estimates and the No Surprises Act – Effective January 1, 2022
As of January 1, 2022, all health care providers are required to provide a good faith estimate to any person who is receiving services, and who is not using insurance or doesn’t have insurance for those services.
Important Points of This Law and How it Affects You When Working With Kokokara Therapy, Inc.
The No Surprises Act was created to avoid consumers receiving a “surprise” bill from an out of network provider, when they thought the services they were receiving would be covered by their in-network insurance benefits. It is intended to make it easier to understand all that you will be billed.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
In the Good Faith Estimate we will now be providing you with, we are expected to include a diagnosis, the services we recommend, the frequency of those services, and an estimate of the total cost.
It is important for you to know that this is a little difficult in mental health for many reasons, including the following:
It can take some time to fully understand the appropriate diagnosis for a person;
Sometimes people choose to work with a therapist when there isn’t an appropriate diagnosis at all;
Every person approaches personal work in their own unique way and while it can take one person a very short time to reach their goal, it may take another a much longer time.
Because of this, and if you choose to go ahead with working with Nanae, your good faith estimate for your initial session will be the cost of that session only.
Once you and your therapist meet, your therapist will understand more about you and your situation, and will be able to provide an updated good faith estimate.
Your good faith estimate can be reviewed at any time upon your request, and your therapist may also initiate a review of your estimate if necessary. This estimate could go up or down as a result of many factors including your life circumstances changing, how quickly you are making progress towards your therapy goals, additional information about your mental health becoming better understood as a result of your therapy work, or as a part of reviewing your therapy goals.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Colorado Division of Insurance at 303-894-7490 or 1-800-930-3745.
